The adventure of Croatia’s first craft cider

Our story began in 2017. Tomislav returned to Croatia from California after years spent in oenology and wine production, with the idea that the local apple could — and should — earn its place in the world of serious beverages. Dino, a political scientist by profession and an explorer and enthusiast at heart, ventured into apple growing and beekeeping.

And when an oenologist meets a grower who believes just as strongly in apples, a spark happens. When we first met, we talked about old apple varieties, permaculture, and the book *The One-Straw Revolution*, which made us both realize we wanted to live differently. Dino soon became the other half of Buzdovan — we combined our shared knowledge and passion and set off on the adventure of creating Croatia’s first craft cider.

Buzdovan was thus born as the first Croatian craft cider — simple in ingredients, yet complex in flavor nuances. Behind it lie years of work, careful selection of the right varieties, and experimenting with styles.
